Health, Safety & The Environment
We believe the evidence of our commitment to health, safety and the environment lies in our excellent safety record and means that we continually set exceptionally high standards within the industry.
Jet Plant holds ISO 45001 accreditation for road planing and associated activities, widely perceived as the ‘gold-standard’ in health and safety, and two RoSPA gold awards – one for our health and safety performance, the other for fleet safety. This achievement means we are the only specialist road planing company who has achieved this this triple gold award, and have done so for five years running.
In 2016 Jet Plant was one of the first organisations nationally to achieve the new ISO 14001:2015 certification for our environmental management system and performance. Our Environmental and Waste Management Services (including disposals of roads planings) is managed by a team based at Evesham, covering all our regional centres.
The company’s annual HSE meeting is attended by all operatives. A broad range of topics are covered including risk assessments and risk judgements, accident emergency procedure, the ‘no surprise’ rule, near misses, tool box talks, zero harm etc.
Jet Plant operators and drivers take comfort in knowing that the training they receive keeps them (and those around them) as safe as possible in what can sometimes be very challenging environments. This is an issue Jet takes very seriously and our rigorous approach to training and diligence provides reassurance to our customers that engaging with Jet Plant means fewer risks on-site. Efficient and safe driving is also important to Jet Plant – safe and efficient driving benefits everyone, helps reduce the environmental and financial impact of our operations and keeps our workers out of harm’s way.
Each of our site operatives is a CSCS and MPQC (Experienced Operative) card holder and trained to a minimum of NVQ2 so, whatever the job, you can count on our planing crews having the experience and competence necessary to deliver results, in a safe and timely manner. We have extensive experience of dealing with hazardous materials, such as tar-bound asphalt, and are fully competent in managing processes from site registration to haulage and safe disposal.
